Leftover Shark Sketches

Happy September, friends! I'd done more shark sketches during Shark Week, but I didn't get around to scanning the traditional ones until last night (I know...bad form)

Marker and Brush Pen Angel Sharks from my sketchbook:

 Some digital Whale Sharks:

Bramble Shark (Day 2's Shark!)

Pretty late, but here are my drawings of day 2's shark (the Bramble Shark)

Decided to do a marker/color pencil sketch. Still don't like how the colors are scanning:

And a bonus drawing of a Sperm Whale caught in a bramble patch:

Tiger sharks are coming soon...

Shark Week 2012, Day 1: Oceanic Whitetip Shark

I've meant to dust the cobwebs from this old blog for months. What better time to resume posting than the most wonderful week of the year? I am, of course, referring to Shark Week. And this year, as in years before, the talented Kristen Campbell is heading up the Shark Week Sketch Jam! For those of you who want to play along, each day we will be drawing (or painting, sculpting, sewing, etc.) a specific shark species. Take a look at the sketch jam blog and deviantart pages to see what everyone else is coming up with, and feel free to join in on the fun!

Sunday's shark of the day was the Oceanic Whitetip. I sat down with some scrap paper, my Pentel Pocketbrush, and some markers and, in spite of how rusty I felt, did a few sketches of the whitetips (and their pilot fish companions):

This page was fun to draw. Added the color here digitally:

I don't think the colors scanned very nicely, but ah well...here are a couple I colored with markers:

So it begins. Happy Shark Week, everybody!

Edit: Day 2 is the Bramble Shark :)

Joining the Motor City Fan Art party..

I love Julie:

Hope you all caught the Motor City premiere last night! If not, check it out on the Disney XD site. A lot of my dear friends at Titmouse worked tirelessly on this show and it looks amazing.

Cabaret

Hi guys. Back from blogging hiatus.

Here are a couple of flyers I did for my friend's cabaret event, Carpe Noctem. They are a talented group of ladies, so please check out their show!:

Somehow, this week's Drawn by Chance Challenge was "French Cephalopods," so I did a Toulouse Lautrec-inspired poster for that as well:

Sketching at the Republic

Some of you may have noticed that Carrie and I have become a little obsessed with pie lately. A month and a half ago, an magical place known as the Republic of Pie opened up in North Hollywood. Since then, we've visited this land of tasty treats on a somewhat regular basis (okay, we go there like twice a week....we don't have a problem). The food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the staff is very friendly, so if you're a local, I highly recommend paying this place a visit sometime.

A photo from last night's "Pi Day" excursion. Chocolate cream pie!

Here are some sketches from our most recent trips to the Republic:

Seated people and some weird marker bleed-through from another page.

A girl in a bright pink blazer.

A page from last night. Pi Day ended deliciously!!
